Editorial policy

This page explains exactly how 10x Verdict produces recommendations. We publish it because a recommendation is only worth as much as the process behind it, and because you should be able to check that process rather than take our word for it.

How we research

Every buying guide and review on this site is built from four inputs:

1. Manufacturer specifications, read from official product pages rather than retailer listings, which frequently contain errors.
2. Current retail pricing across multiple Indian retailers, recorded with the date it was checked.
3. Verified owner feedback at volume, weighted towards reports of long-term reliability and service experience rather than first-week impressions.
4. Hands-on use, where we have it.

We say when we have not tested something

This is the commitment that matters most. A great deal of product writing online implies hands-on testing that never happened. We do not do that.

Any article not based on physical testing of the products in it carries a visible note at the top saying so. If we have used a product, we say what we did with it and for how long. If we have not, we say that instead. You will never have to guess which kind of article you are reading.

How we rank

We do not rank by score alone, because a single number hides the thing you actually need to know — which product is right for you. Every recommendation names the specific reader it suits, and every product we recommend has its weaknesses listed alongside its strengths.

If the honest answer to a category is "none of these are worth buying" or "wait for a sale", we publish that. If a cheaper product is the better buy, we say so even though it pays us less.

What we accept from brands, and what we do not

We do not accept payment for a recommendation, a ranking position, or a positive review. There is no price for this and no arrangement under which it becomes available.

We do not publish sponsored posts presented as editorial content.

We do not give brands advance review approval. No manufacturer sees an article before publication or has any right to change it.

We may accept review samples, which is standard practice in consumer electronics. Where we do, it is disclosed in the article itself, and it carries no obligation to publish, to publish favourably, or to publish within any timeframe.

Affiliate links and independence

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is how the site is funded, and it is disclosed at the top of every article containing such links as well as in ouraffiliate disclosure.

Commission rates differ between products and retailers. We do not consider them when deciding what to recommend or how to rank. Our buying guides frequently place a cheaper product above a more expensive one, and several of our how-to guides carry no affiliate links at all.

Prices and specifications

Indian retail pricing moves constantly. Every price we publish is marked as approximate and carries the date it was last checked. The retailer's own page is always the authority on the current price, and we link to it so you can verify before you buy.

Specifications are recorded centrally and updated when products are revised. If you find a specification that does not match the manufacturer's current listing, please tell us.

Corrections

We will get things wrong. When we do, we fix the article and note what changed and when, rather than quietly editing and pretending otherwise.

If you spot an error — a wrong specification, a stale price, a broken link, or a conclusion you think does not hold up — let us know via our contact page. Corrections from readers are welcome and we would rather hear about a mistake than not.
