Manufacturers revise products without changing model names, and regional variants differ. Specifications we publish were accurate to the best of our knowledge when recorded, but the manufacturer's current official listing takes precedence over anything on this site.

Products we recommend may be discontinued, out of stock, or unavailable in your city. We cannot control retailer inventory.

Testing and the basis of our conclusions

Where an article is not based on hands-on testing, it says so in a visible note at the top. Those articles draw on published specifications, retail pricing and verified owner feedback. We think that is a legitimate basis for a recommendation, and we are explicit about it so you can weigh it yourself.

Individual experience varies. A product that suits most buyers may not suit you. Our recommendations describe the reader each product suits precisely so you can tell whether that is you.

Energy and running-cost estimates

Where we discuss electricity consumption or running costs — for example in our BEE star rating guide — the figures are illustrative estimates based on stated assumptions about usage hours and tariffs. Your actual costs depend on your usage, your tariff slab, your local climate and the condition of your home. Treat our arithmetic as a method to apply to your own numbers, not as a prediction of your bill.
